When you are ready to follow the steps necessary to repair
your credit, you may first ask, “How can I restore my credit?” There are several
ways you can accomplish the task; some ways work more efficiently than others.
Spend some time researching before you make a final decision concerning the
restoration of your credit.
Hiring a Company to
Help You Fix Your Credit
For many people it seems learning how to fix my credit score means you have to hire a restoration service and pay a fee for the
service. You really don’t have to hire someone to fix your credit score. Why
would you even want to pay someone to do something you can do yourself for
nothing more than the cost of postage, copies or faxes? Some of the things you can without hiring
someone to do the work for you include:
·
Request the removal of inaccurate information
·
Request proof of information for which you have
no record—if the company cannot prove the account exists the credit reporting
agency will remove the information
·
Verify the accuracy of all information in your
credit file
·
If you have old bad credit that is paid you can
ask the creditor to remove it—sometimes they will, especially if it’s been
several years
Credit Restoration is
Not Always the Best Solution
Before you just spend money on a credit restoration service
to fix your bad credit, think about why you would even consider paying someone
to do what you can do yourself free—look at it in the same way you would if you
were to hire an electrician to change a light bulb. Do what I did and save the
money to put into a savings account and obtain a secured credit card and if you
don’t have a problem putting your credit file into someone else’s hands and
spending the money for the service, then by all means hire someone. Personally
I would prefer being the only person in charge of what is in my credit file.
Repair Services
through Legal Channels
Lawyers do much more than just handle civil and/or criminal
disputes. Some law firms handle things such as collection of debts and offer legal
credit repair services. One advantage to using a law firm is the research is
much easier to conduct and you are usually dealing with a reputable company—at
least one that has to meet certain standards and can be disbarred for
incompetency and unethical practices. For more information on this legal
service, visit website.
Before you make any decision about credit restoration you
want to be sure you weigh all the advantageous and disadvantageous of hiring a
third party. Only after you weigh your options are you ready to choose the
right course of action.
